Dow Crag is home to some of the most stunning lines in the southern Lake District with a contrast of buttresses towering over Goats Water there is a wide variety of climbs here for all your rock climbing needs.
With routes up to 100m long and with up to 7 pitches of climbing this is a fantastic day out in the Lake District mountains, in a venue with a big atmospheric feeling.
The walk in is just over one hour from the Walna Scar road, and we recommend that you have had some climbing experience previously to feel at home in the mountain setting.

Our standard bookings are priced per day for a guided experience.
What kit will I need?
All PPE personal protective equipment will be supplied by Open Ascents. For climbing and mountaineering this include, Helmet, Harness, Ropes and protection. You will need to bring your own climbing or mountaineering footwear. Please see FAQ section for kit list on bottom header of website.

What if there is bad weather?
It might not be sunny all the time but we have enough local knowledge to seek out the best venues and will advise when booking the most ideal alternatives for on the day. If the weather and conditions are truly unworkable then we can reschedule for a better time at no extra cost.
