Discover one of the Lake District's most historic climbing venues and the birth place of modern rock climbing.
You will be moving on rock for most of the day from scrambling along The Climbers Traverse and Threading the Needle to the magnificent climb of Needle Ridge. Finishing off with an ascent of Westmoorland Crags to top out on the summit of Great Gable. Enjoy the views down the Wasdale valley throughout the day whilst climbing on excellent rock in superb surroundings.
The walk in for this is about an hour and a half and no climbing experience is needed. This is a full mountain day for those who love to be on the go.

Our standard bookings are priced per day for a guided experience.
What kit will I need?
All PPE personal protective equipment will be supplied by Open Ascents. For climbing and mountaineering this include, Helmet, Harness, Ropes and protection. You will need to bring your own climbing or mountaineering footwear. Please see FAQ section for kit list on bottom header of website.

What if there is bad weather?
It might not be sunny all the time but we have enough local knowledge to seek out the best venues and will advise when booking the most ideal alternatives for on the day. If the weather and conditions are truly unworkable then we can reschedule for a better time at no extra cost.
