The Lake District's must-do walk and one of the most popular walks in Britain. Ascend the 3rd highest peak in England in true mountain style. Scramble along Striding Edge whilst looking down at Red Tarn till you reach the summit and enjoy views over the northern Lakes. Descend via the easier Swirral edge and return back to Glenridding in beautiful mountain settings. This walk normally takes four and a half hours and is accessible for beginners with a good head for heights. Striding Edge is a graded scramble, however our guides can assist you and the more technical sections are avoidable.

Discover one of the Lake District's most loved valley. This is rightly one of the Lake District's most popular venues. A classic circular route takes in many summits from the impressive Stickle Tarn. Enjoy broken ground and craggy tops as you ascend to the summits of Pavey Ark and Harrison Stickle. This walk normally takes four hours and is completed easily for those with no prior experience. With a large range of alternatives on route there are many more technical choices for the day and many more peaks to bag once on the tops.

In the quieter western fells of the Lake District sits Wainwright's favourite fell. Haystacks is a mighty mini mountain that can be accessed from the shores of Buttermere or the heights of Honister. Explore the local bothies and enjoy views across the whole of the Lake District and Northern Fells. With broken paths and rocky peaks this walk has the feel of the high peaks but at a lower altitude. It can normally be completed within four hours and can be easily completed by beginners.

PILLAR ROCK

892m

Up to 1:6

Experienced

In the Ennerdale valley is the atmospheric mountain Pillar. Not one of the highest in the Lake District but one of the most inaccessible and wild. Rich in mountaineering history, Pillar can be attempted via Wasdale or Ennerdale. With very few paths you will be travelling across some of the most wild landscapes in the Lake District as you ascend steeply to the magnificent summit. Along the way there are short scrambles to the summit of Pisgah on Pillar Rock, an impressive tower of volcanic rock dominating the landscape. This walk is normally completed in just over five hours and due to the terrain and location we recommend some prior walking experience.
