In the quieter western fells of the Lake District sits Wainwright's favourite fell.

 

Haystacks is a mighty mini mountain that can be accessed from the shores of Buttermere or the heights of Honister. Explore the local bothies and enjoy views across the whole of the Lake District and Northern Fells.

 

With broken paths and rocky peaks this walk has the feel of the high peaks but at a lower altitude. It can normally be completed within four hours and can be easily completed by beginners.
